I liked this letter

In response to the recent Sid Blumenthal peice on Salon today.

Cover your eyes during the scary parts

Many hope to "wait it out", crawl into a shell and let the next 18 months pass. This is dangerous. It is possible, and in fact quite easy, for the neoconservative agenda to continue even stronger after '08.
Consider the following formula:
- Ramp up the fear of terrorist attacks
- Continue to play up the Iranian nuclear threat
- Blame Iran for problems in Iraq and Afghanistan
- At the correct time, attack Iran
The trick is to be at war with Iran during the '08 elections. There are a few other minor details, but its not too difficult. Given the current political climate, this should guarantee neocon victory.

I think there's very little chance there'll be a war with Iran soon. America doesn't have the international clout to make the UN punish Iran. And Bush's stock is so low that he would find it very hard to get approval from Congress for it. And Iran is probably ten years from nuclear weapons.

But I guess that means that if Hilary wins, and there is a Democratic Congress, bombing may ensue.

Also, I think that any war with Iran is unlikely to be a "neoconservative" war. There won't be a full-scale invasion and attempt to impose liberal democracy. It's more like the policy of containment we had with Iraq before 2003 - bombing campaigns to stop WMD proliferation.

I guess there will be a war with Iran within a couple of months,I believe Bush already start to move ahead of his plan..Perhaps he would delay because of lack of support in and out of government/country...

Bush is crazy enough to bomb Iran anyway.
