United States of Happiness, cont'd
I propose that the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states (down to the Mason-Dixon line) extricate ourselves from the brain-dead middle bits, but take the states bordering the Great Lakes with us - at least their top halves. Southern Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana we don't need. But that would give us Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. We could then buy a couple of mile wide strip of land along the 49th parallel so that we could join our nice, safe, happy country with the nice, safe, happy Pacific states. Canada, we would give you a really good deal on this.
(I'm trying to post a map of the USH, but blogger is being difficult.)

Don't leave me! A bitch will have to make for the border and it is hot as hell outside!
Sob.
Shit, might as well start walking...
ooh, okay, st louis is in!!!
Sad, very sad. Calexico is already its own country, but we're so very far away from you.
I think we might need an urban/rural element to this divide. St. Louis would be an excellent edition to our splinter nation, but most of the rest of Missouri, not as much. Ditto for Pennsylvania's great cities and the rest of PA.
Umm, a couple mile wide strip along the 49th parallel is Canada. Perhaps we might consider granting a corridor North & then going across
ps. obviously, i meant "addition," not "edition."
i blame the heat, and the baby boomers, for my error.
