Scientists Wear Clothes And Have Hair

Seventh graders visit Fermilab, learn that scientists do wear clothes under their white lab coats, just like regular people! (Yes, even I do that on occassion - it's really cold in there.)

Highlight from Katie:
Actually, scientists are normal people that lead normal lives. Their jobs sound very interesting because they can do whatever they want and they still get paid for it. They can dress in casual clothes and decorate their offices however they want.

Katie has smashed the atom right on the head! Aside from that most of us don't have offices. Casual clothes and the freedom to surf the net all day and sit at the 'scope all night is what seperates the PhDs from the MDs. Hells yeah!

There are a number of gender swaps in the before/after drawings, which is intriguing. Also interesting is that many of the before drawings show male scientists with bald pates while their after counterparts have full heads of hair (and in one case a porn-tache).

The captions are pretty sweet. I am generally disappointed in the quality of the drawings, though. Hello, perspective? Tiny foreheads? Egyptian tomb stance? Clearly we are underfunding visual arts in our schools.
